Business Challenge

KL Ballantyne relies on the Movex ERP to manage their back office manufacturing, inventory and sales processes. Budgeting, forecasting and reporting were being performed utilising a large number of spreadsheets and dated implementations of third party reporting tools.

In order to prepare sales forecasts, data was manually extracted from Movex into spreadsheets; these were distributed to the sales team for updates and then manually re-assembled. The process was error prone, time consuming and inefficient.


QMetrix recommended and implemented a solution based on IBM Cognos Express to replace inefficient and labour intensive forecasting, budgeting and pricing model processes. Cognos Express was ideally suited as the KL Ballantyne management team wanted the ability to input data and perform ‘what if’ analysis in a familiar spreadsheet interface.
